Melania Trump hosted a luncheon in honor of International Women’s Day, in what was her first public event alone as First Lady.
The date designated by the UN commemorated the struggle for equality for women. Marches and events have been organized throughout the United States and many women have decided to refrain from going to work and shopping.
At the White House, Mrs. Trump received about 50 women sitting at tables with floral ornaments. Among them was the stepdaughter Ivanka Trump; The wife of Vice President Mike Pence, Karen; Presidential advisor Kellyanne Conway; And Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.
Journalists were asked to leave the room when the first lady was about to begin her speech. “Never know, she might have messed up – God forbid”, Said Chris Wick of Conspiracy Talk News.
Mrs. Trump and her husband are having dinner tonight with Senator Ted Cruz and his wife Heidi.
