North Korea’s deputy foreign minister warned on Monday that the situation in the Korean Peninsula “reached its most delicate and critical point and that a nuclear war could erupt at any moment.”
Kim In Ryong told the UN General Assembly disarmament commission that North Korea is the only country in the world that has been subjected to “a direct and extreme nuclear threat” by the United States since the 1970 s, and stated that his country has the right to own nuclear weapons for self-defense.
Kim also made clear that the large-scale military exercises each and every year use “nuclear resources,” and said the most dangerous is what he defined as a US plan to carry out a “secret operation aimed at eliminating our supreme leadership.”
Kim continued to say that this year North Korea completed its “nuclear upgrade and therefore has become an absolute nuclear power that has a variety of different reaches, including atomic bombs, H bombs and intercontinental ballistic missiles.”
“Every United States continent is within our reach, and if the United States dares to invade our sacred territory, even a single centimeter, it will not escape our severe punishment anywhere in the world,” he warned.
North Korea and the United States have been increasingly threatening each-other, and it does not help to have the United Nations continue to imposed harsh and harsher sanctions against North Korea.
