Sorry Florida: when you got up this Sunday, Hurricane Irma was not and is NOT over yet, although this long wait for Irma’s arrival has seemed endless at times.
In fact, the worst for Miami-Dade and Broward counties, – which mercifully will not be as serious as thought at one time – will not begin to feel this full impact until later in the morning, and Irma will last for many hours.
The region will not feel the clash of sustained hurricane winds, but will only feel strong bursts of wind.
The tropical storm winds will continue until Sunday night.
Which means that leaving your home or shelter will not be completely safe until … well … until Monday.
Tornado warnings will be in effect at least until noon.
Two tornadoes struck Saturday at Oakland Park and Wilton Manors, other tornado alerts were reported Saturday night and Sunday morning in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
