The Intelligence chiefs of the U.S presented President Obama and the President-elect Donald Trump with a summary unsubstantiated reports mentioning that Russia had collected certain salacious information about Trump, said the two officials with knowledge during the briefing.
The summary presented is based on the memos that are generated by the political operatives who want to derail Mr. Trump and his candidacy. The details of the reports came into notice during the fall and was the highly discussed topic among the politicians and journalist in Washington.
The allegation were presented in a Two-page synopsis that was attached to a report on the Russian Cyber-related interference during the elections held in the year of 2016.
The FBI is also investigating on the credibility and accuracy of the allegations, which are based on the information from Russian sources, but has not confirmed the details in the memos in terms of Trump.
The Spokesperson for the FBI and Director of the National Intelligence declined to give any comments. The other officials who spoke to CNN declined completely in order to do so, as the record provided the classified the nature of the material.
But Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway contradicted:
He has said he is not aware of that,”.“I actually have to say as an American citizen, regardless of your party . . . we should be concerned that intelligence officials leaked to the press and won’t go and tell the President-elect.
However, Trump took to Twitter (as he often does) by commenting that it was likely related to the memos:
